Royal Doulton Dorcas Figurine HN1490 (Rare Gray Color)

Rare Royal Doulton Dorcas figurine in rare gray color - HN1490.  This figure was designed by the legendary Leslie Harradine and was introduced in 1932 and withdrawn by 1938.  Dorcas is the traditional name for a good and charitable woman who makes clothes and needlework to help the poor.  The name originated in the Bible where Dorcas was referred to as full of good works and alms deeds.   The Dorcas Society, a ladies association connected with the church, was founded for the purpose of making clothes for the poor.  The figure is made of fine bone china and is approximatley 7 inches tall.  No chips or cracks observed on the figure however you are encouraged to examine photos and evaluate delicate flower petals for yourself  - see photos for detials of condition.
